Daily Brief brings together short updates on news and topics you care about. You can choose what appears, add your own preferences, check the sources behind a story, and keep exploring it with Pi.
Getting started
Where do I find my Daily Brief?
Mobile: Tap Discover in the bottom navigation bar, then tap Daily Brief.
Web: Open Discover in the sidebar, then select the Daily Brief.
Your brief shows its date at the top. Tap or click a topic shortcut, such as Local news or Finance, to jump to that section, or scroll through the brief. On mobile, use the back arrow at the top left to leave the brief.
What if I can’t find Daily Brief?
Check Discover while signed in. On mobile, return to Discover and open the Daily Brief again; on the web, try reloading the page. If the card is still missing, please contact support through the Pi App. See the help options at the end of this article.
What can my brief include?
You can choose from World news, Local news, Finance, Technology, Sports, Entertainment, Dates that matter, Something new, The lighter side, and Uniquely you.
Not every section appears every day. Pi only shows a section when there’s content to share, so the topics and length of your brief can vary.
Is Daily Brief the same as Daily Check-in?
No. Daily Brief is a catch-up on news and topics you follow. It does not replace Daily Check-in.
Make your brief your own
How do I choose or turn off topics?
Mobile: Open Daily Brief and tap the sliders icon at the top right. This opens Personalize your brief, where you can turn topic switches on or off.
Web: Open your brief and select the sliders icon, Personalize your brief. Turn topic switches on or off; changes save automatically on the web.
Turning a topic off hides that section from your brief. Turning it back on lets the section appear again when content is available. Allow a moment for the brief to update.
Why is a topic missing even though I turned it on?
A topic can be enabled without appearing in today’s brief. There may not be content to share for that section. Check its switch in Personalize your brief; if it’s already on, you don’t need to keep turning it off and on.
Can I ask for something more specific?
Mobile: In Personalize your brief, scroll below the location fields to Preferences and tap +. In the Preference form, describe what you want to see more or less of, using up to 250 characters. Tap the checkmark at the top right to confirm, or × at the top left to cancel.
Web: In Personalize your brief, go to Preferences and select Add a preference. Describe what you want to see more or less of, using up to 250 characters, then select Save. Select Cancel to leave without adding the preference.
For example: “More space and astronomy news, and less celebrity news.”
How do I edit or delete a preference?
On the web, open Personalize your brief and find the preference under Preferences. Open its options menu and choose Edit or Delete. When editing, select Save to keep your changes, or Cancel to leave the preference as it was.
How do I choose locations for my brief?
On mobile or web, open Personalize your brief and scroll to What locations matter to you? Enter a Primary location and, if you’d like, up to two places under Others. Both fields are optional.
On the web, select Save changes to keep your location changes, or Cancel to discard them.
Do I need to save my changes?
On mobile, confirm a new preference with the checkmark in the Preference form, or use × to cancel.
On the web, topic switches and Notification time save automatically. Location edits need Save changes. Adding or editing an individual preference needs Save.
If the web dialog briefly shows empty fields or Select, give it a moment to load your saved settings before making changes.
I saved a preference. Why hasn’t today’s content changed?
New content preferences take effect in your next Daily Brief, rather than adding new stories to the brief you’re already reading. The wait depends on when your next brief is generated.
How do I set up my horoscope?
On the web, if your brief shows a horoscope card, select Enter birthdate. Choose your birth month and day. Pi asks for these to work out your star sign and personalize the daily horoscope; this form does not ask for your birth year.
Notifications
How do I change my notification time?
Mobile: Open Daily Brief, tap the sliders icon at the top right, then tap the Notification time field in Personalize your brief.
Web: Open Personalize your brief and choose a time under Notification time. The web menu offers half-hour steps, and your choice saves automatically.
On the web, you can also open Settings → Notifications and select Edit time beside Daily Brief to reach the same controls.
How do I turn Daily Brief notifications on or off?
Web: Go to Settings → Notifications and use the Daily Brief switch. If push notifications are disabled, allow push notifications and follow your browser’s permission prompt. Browser push settings apply to the current browser.
Choosing a notification time is separate from allowing notifications. Check both if you want an alert.
Can I still read my brief with notifications off?
Yes. You can open Discover → Daily Brief even when Daily Brief notifications are off.
Why didn’t I get a notification, or why did it arrive at a different time?
Check Notification time in Personalize your brief. On the web, also check the Daily Brief switch in Settings → Notifications and your browser’s notification permissions. On mobile, check that your phone allows notifications from Pi. Focus modes and battery-saving settings can also delay or silence alerts.
If the problem continues, use Help & feedback → Request support. Include the selected time, your current time zone, when the alert arrived or was expected.See the notification troubleshooting guide for more help.
Read, explore and give feedback
Where does the information come from, and how do I check it?
Daily Brief uses web search for news, and AI can make mistakes. Double-check information that matters to you.
Look for Sources at the bottom of a news card on mobile or web. Select it to check the links behind the story. Some types of cards may not show Sources.
On the web, Sources opens a panel with publishers and article links. Open a link to read the original source, or select Close sources to return.
How do I talk with Pi about something in my brief?
Tap the story card on mobile, or click it on the web, to open a chat with Pi about that news story. Then type your question to continue.
How does feedback affect my Daily Brief?
On mobile or web, select the thumbs-up/down control on a card. The options and their effect depend on the type of content.
News cards: Choose More of this or Less of this. This adds a preference to your Daily Brief preferences and helps tune your future briefs. You can review the saved preference in Personalize your brief → Preferences.
Non-news cards: Choose I like this or I don’t like this. This is feedback on that content only; it does not add a preference or adjust your future Daily Briefs.
You can also add your own requests directly in Personalize your brief → Preferences.
To turn off an entire topic, use its switch in Personalize your brief.
How do I report something inaccurate or inappropriate?
On mobile or web, open the three-dot menu on the story card and select Report. Choose Harmful or dangerous, Factually inaccurate, Biased, or Other. Add any details that help explain the problem, then submit the report.
Where can I get more help or suggest an improvement?
Web: Open Help & feedback in the sidebar. Choose Request support for a problem, Share your feedback for a suggestion, or Visit the Help Center to browse more articles.
Mobile: Open More (⋯) in the bottom navigation bar, then choose Help & Feedback. Choose Request support for a problem, Share your feedback for a suggestion, or Visit the Help Center to browse more articles.
